Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair Devices are witnessing high demand with rising cases of aortic aneurysm

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair devices are the answer for the millions of people who suffer from this condition. The advent of the latest medical research had led to the discovery of the different types of this ailment and the advent of newer and better technology had enabled the engineers to come out with more efficient devices that had improved the quality of the functioning of the device.

There are basically two types of abdominal aortic aneurysm repair devices. These are the compression and the decompression ones. Compression devices are the common choice amongst patients due to the fact that they are very effective. They are very comfortable to wear as well. They provide immediate and significant relief to the patients suffering from this condition. They are basically made up of two parts which include the compression garment and the stent graft. The stent graft is usually used when the patient suffers from more severe forms of this ailment. However, it is not always the case. On some occasions, the aortic aneurysms are smaller and compression garments are not able to completely eliminate them. The compression garment is essentially helpful in ensuring that the aortic aneurysms are effectively and fully eliminated.

This is the reason why it is commonly recommended for patients to undergo such therapeutic procedures. Patients suffering from aortic aneurysms also have the option of receiving open-heart surgery or percutaneous coronary interventions. Open-heart surgery is considered one of the most effective treatments in terms of eliminating abdominal aortic aneurysms. However, it is risky especially when performed by the experts. On the other hand, surgical intervention is needed in cases where surgical methods prove ineffective. One of the most common types of surgical procedures used in eliminating abdominal aortic aneurysm is Endovascular Aortic Valve Replacement (EAVR).

The procedure basically involves replacing the defective or damaged aortic valve with a new one. The new valve is made of synthetic material. Another common surgical procedure that is used to treat this condition is Stenosis Extraction. Recently, in July 2021, Endologix LLC received the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Breakthrough Device Designation for its ChEVAS (Chimney Endovascular Aneurysm Sealing) for patients with complex abdominal aortic aneurysm.
