Plant-Based Meat Plant-based meat is a food prepared from soy or gluten which provides the same nutritional value as meat. These food products are made from various sources such as jackfruit, soy, peas, wheat gluten, beans, etc., by adding other ingredients and giving it a certain texture so as to mimic, or resemble, the taste and appearance of animal meat. Plant-based meat is prepared using plant and other non-animal products to look, taste, and feel like meat products. Examples include falafel, seitan, tempeh, Mock duck Tofurky, and Beyond Meat burgers. Moreover, plant-based meat products are healthier compared to regular meat products as they're low in calories and saturated fat. Plant-based meats may also have less zinc and other minerals than regular meat.
