  Isocyanates are organic compounds with the –N=C=O functional group. When two of these functional groups are attached to a compound, the group is referred to as a di-isocyanate. Aromatic and aliphatic are the two types of salt compounds. Aromatic is formed by directly attaching an NCO group to aromatic rings. Aromatic is primarily used in the production of polyurethane foam, which is created through the reaction of aromatic salt and polyols in the presence of a catalyst. Aromatic is commonly used to make flexible or rigid foam, elastomers, and protective coatings, among other things.

  In nature, these compounds are highly reactive and toxic. Because of their toxicity, special precautions are taken in their handling and production. Toluene, benzene, and aniline are common raw materials used in the production of aromatic salt. Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) are two aromatic compounds that are commonly used in the construction industry for the production of rigid foam.

  The growing demand for polyurethane foam, particularly in the construction industry, drives the demand for aromatic salt. Second, the growing applications for adhesives and protective coatings are expected to drive the growth in demand for aromatic salt over the forecast period. Both of these elements are expected to drive the growth of aromatic salt. The prices of raw materials used in the production of aromatic salt are heavily influenced by crude oil prices.
