  GPS tracker is used to tracking the movements of vehicles or a person, which help determine the exact location of the assets. A GPS tracking unit works by sending location information to a central server via satellite. The information is transmitted to the central database using a cellular modem built into the GPS tracking device. The user can view this data in real-time from a web-based dashboard. This information is transmitted to a central database using a cellular device, radio, or satellite modem embedded in the unit.

  GPS tracking requires a tracking device installed in a vehicle, on a piece of equipment, or worn by a person. The tracker helps provide real-time information about the exact location of the vehicle, equipment, or individual. Vehicle tracking solutions consist of a tracking device (hardware), a GPS satellite, wireless connectivity, an interface, a server, and sometimes a signal receiver and a GPS vehicle tracking API. However, it is entirely legal to use a GPS tracker on any vehicle or asset people own.

  If someone installs a GPS tracking system in their car, they could expose themselves to a privacy violation lawsuit. For example, in the United States, California Penal Code § 637.7 makes it a misdemeanor to install a GPS device in a person's car without consent. But as far as company vehicle tracking and the law is concerned, the use of such systems is perfectly legal as long as they are used transparently. GPS Trackers are small, portable devices that allow a car owner to monitor and locate their car when needed.

  They also have the potential to offer instant location, speed, and direction data. GPS tracking is the surveillance of location through the use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the location of an entity or object remotely. GPS tracking devices establish a person or vehicles’ location on the Earth with astonishing precision.
